Use the topic of theatre as the basis for some inspiring literacy activities

Theatre tickets

What could be more perfect for a topic on the theatre, than a series of drama based literacy lessons, including improvisation, roleplay, using playscripts and developing play-writing skills? It’s an ideal way to help children lose their inhibitions by encouraging them to read and perform in an expressive way. It’s also a great way to introduce younger children to the terms ‘character, setting and plot’.

Activities

  1. Roleplaying traditional tales
  2. Theatre posters
  3. Buying theatre tickets and snacks
  4. Theatre themed books
