Below bog standard

The British Cleaning Council (BCC) is backing a drive to improve toilet facilities in schools. The Bog Standard campaign, which is being organised by the charity ERIC (Education and Resources for Improving Childhood Continence), is calling for twice daily cleans and has introduced a school toilet charter and an award scheme in an attempt to raise standards.
The BCC has highlighted problems with children being reluctant to use school toilet facilities which, in many cases, have been found to be dirty, closed for much of the school day and a target for bullying behaviour. Steve Wright, Chairman of the BCC, stated: ‘It’s been brought to our attention that clean, safe, equipped and accessible toilets are becoming high on children’s wish lists – but many UK schools failing to provide this. Children are just as entitled as adults to clean toilet facilities; poor hygiene in loos can lead to increased infections such as bacterial diarrhoea and Hepatitis A.’
