Libraries across England will be aiming to attract new members on Saturday 26 April as they run a ‘Join A Library Day’.

The initiative is part of the National Year of Reading’s campaign to encourage parents, children and young people to join their local library.

To help with the process, the National Year of Reading and the Society of Chief Librarians have developed a universal library membership form, which can be used to join any library in England. New members simply need to take the completed form to their local library together with one form of ID.

The first 235,000 children, young people and families who join their local library on the day will receive a free copy of the National Year of Reading’s The Ultimate Book Guide, a selection of specially selected titles for young readers and a library welcome pack.

The membership form can be used on any day during the National Year of Reading. To obtain a copy, click visit the National Year of Reading website
