can you no longer get a hard copy of the magazine? I am unsure of starting a subscription if it is all online based.

    Hi lizzie90,

Subscriptions are now online only, and cost from £15 per year. A subscription to Nursery Education will give you access to over 2,212 resources. A subscription to Child Education will give you access to over 6,400 resources.

If you prefer to use hard copies, you can buy back issues of our printed magazines at the Scholastic Shop: http://schls.tc/Ict5w7koZJ

Back issues of our Education Plus and Literacy Time magazines currently cost £4.25 each plus postage and packing.

    Best wishes, Lydia @ Scholastic

Does this mean that the nursery ed magazine is no longer being published? I find this very sad. As teachers we spend a long time on the computer, planning, researching etc and whilst I support the online feature of the magazine, I do not feel it replaces the paper copy. I was a subscriber to nursery ed for many years before I ventured into the relms of key stage 2. I really enjoyed opening my new copy and spending a hour or two reading and digesting articles that I might not have come across using the online feature. I have moved back into foundation stage this year and was looking forward to starting up my subscription again, but would not be interesed in an online only magazine.

I, too find it sad that you no longer have the magazine. I dip in and out of my old magazines. I dislike staying on the computer for long periods. Magazines can be put in your handbag for journeys. Your magazine was by far the best one. Joan

i am so dissapointed that the the magazine is not being published anymore it was so good wonderful ideas that helped me plan sometimes on a daily basis the mag would be open for all to see at nursery i would often read it in bed. i dont like long periods on the computer either .your mag will be sadly missed. I just feel a bit robbed that I paid for a year’s subscription to the magazine and didn’t get what I paid for…

I dont really miss the Child Ed magazine as i felt it was mainly adverts for ed companies. I subscribed for the great games and downloads you get for the whiteboard which I use all the time in class. E.g The nocturnal animals interactive information. I can always find a good resource or worksheet on the site especially for history topics. It would be nice to access some of the Nursery Ed stuff that looks relevant to topics I’m teaching but that would mean a seperate subscription cost.

I too am surprised to hear this – I was not aware that I would not get a magazine through the post when I renewed my subscription. It will cost an awful lot to print out posters and such like surely!! I have subscribed on and off to child ed for 20 years and think it is very sad that it is now online only.

Must have missed the small print too when I subscribed. I agree with other comments that we spend far too much time already on computers and that a paper copy is something to look forward to reading each month. What a shame that when we are trying to encourage our children to pick up books and magazines to read and to be on computer devices less, that Child Ed is only available on line. Very costly to print out colour posters too. I do like the online resources which are interactive but please can we have a paper copy of the magazine too?

Is there any chance you could re think the decision not to have a hard copy? We as a profession have nothing to replace it

Just started diploma course and though I’d subscribe to the magazine as its handy to dip in and out of.Was surprised to find when I queried it hadn’t arrived that it was online only.Very disappointed as I don’t enjoy being on pc for ages, much prefer to have a proper mag :(

I thought that and now subscribe to Teach Primary which is a great monthly mag. Check it out.

VERY dissapointed about this. How can you assume we have the time to sit in front of a computer, and how can all staff take advantage of the magazine now It was so much better to have the magazine in the nursery for everyone to use when they needed to. I will be sadly cancelling our subscription. anony.

Is there a way that we can have an option to buy posters and other resources that we would have had in our magazine. At a cost but one that comes out say termly.

    • Posted by: Tim Major, Editor on 16 March 2012 - 08:48

@kieran96 – this is an idea we may be able to offer in the future. In the meantime, you can still purchase back issues of Child Ed, Nursery Ed, Junior Ed and Literacy Time that come with full-colour A2 posters: http://education.scholastic.co.uk/search/browse

The availability of new posters would be a brilliant idea. I have aquired lots of them with subscribing to Nursery ed for quite a long time and I’m ready for some fresh ones. I have just recently had my ofsted (and recieved a good) I had two posters on display at the time and the inspector thought they were fabulous we spent nearly twenty mins just talking about them, so come on, I have been promoting Scholastic, let’s get back to the icing on the cake with some new posters! Hopeful Childminder.

I was waiting for my first copy of the magazine to arrive in the post only to be sorely disappointed when nothing arrived. I wouldn’t have subscribed to Scholastic had I realised there would be no magazine.

Im so disappointed, i have subscribed to the child education magazine to use for research and as a referencing tool as a journal as it has current information about the curriculum. As a student doing a foundation degree you can not just use the internet all the time to find research this is why i wanted the hard copy and also for ease of reading it on my breaks at work. I will be cancelling my subscription as soon as i can, as this was not really explained clearly when signing up for it.
