Guided imagination in RE

Julie Wilson provides two ideas for using guided visualisation around the theme of the Christmas Story

Whose shoes?

Ask the children to visualise the shoes of one character from the Christmas story. Take them through the story of that character, emphasising where those shoes travel. Have the character take off the shoes and ask the children to imagine putting them on. Invite them to go back through the journey that those shoes have made and to think about their feelings at each point.

Follow-up activities can include reflecting on the messages those characters received from God that caused them to move on or travel in a different direction.
