Ofsted inspections are about to change. From September, a self-evaluation form (SEF) will be a key factor. Here’s an update on what to expect

It is a busy time for everyone working within the early years sector. Providers are ensuring that they are ready to introduce the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in September and Ofsted is developing a completely new approach to inspection. We have invested in a significant training programme for inspectors to become familiar with the EYFS and to inspect in a different way.

We have refined our inspection in light of the very helpful responses to our consultation with individuals and those organisations with an interest in early years, as well as help from the many willing providers who helped us to pilot aspects of the new inspection ready for September.
