With greater interdependency between countries, children need as broad a view as possible of the world and their place in it.

Globe hands

Encouraging children to think about a global perspective should equip them with an understanding of the opportunities and responsibilities that come with global citizenship.

Global education works best when it is incorporated into a whole school, cross-curricular philosophy. Rather than being seen as an addition to the curriculum, it should be viewed as a thread running through it, incorporating eight key concepts:
  • Global citizenship
  • Conflict resolution
  • Diversity
  • Human rights
  • Interdependence
  • Social justice
  • Sustainable development
  • Values and perceptions
