Leap year

By Brenda Williams

Celebrate the leap year on 29th February with these fantastic activities that support literacy, numeracy and physical development.

Julius Caesar’s astronomer introduced Leap Years over 2000 years ago. They are still needed to keep our present calendar in alignment with the Earth’s revolutions around the sun. If we didn’t add an extra day to our usual calendar of 365 days nearly every four years, our calendar would be 24 days out, after 100 years. Our next Leap Year will be Saturday 29th February 2020.
