These videos are an absolute must for any Early Years practitioner. They all retell beloved children’s stories from Aesop’s Fables to Australian Aborigines’ folktales, using only various 2D colourful shapes.
These shapes are cleverly combined to form animals like rabbits, cats and even fish, making the videos an ideal way to tackle the ‘shape, space and measure’ aspect of the ‘Mathematics’ area of learning from the EYFS.
We’re hosting some of our favourites below, but you can peruse the whole selection on the Fables by SHAPES YouTube playlist.
Whilst we’re on the subject of ‘shape, space and measure’, don’t forget to check out Karen Hart’s brilliant article as well – that one focused entirely on different ways to tackle this same aspect.
