Animals poster

How to use it

When you display this animal poster, ask the children to recall where they have seen the animals depicted. Have they ever observed cows and sheep in fields, or visited a farm? Talk about the features that differentiate the animals. Introduce a selection of toy sheep, cows and some fences. Make two fields with the fences and put the sheep in one and the cows in the other. Develop observational skills by asking the children to find cows that look like the ones in the poster. Can the children explain the difference between a ‘lamb’ and a ‘sheep’? Suggest grouping a pair of lambs with each sheep.
