Here are 20 top Literacy Time PLUS resources to help you join in the Children’s Book Week celebrations.
Children’s Book Week is a celebration of reading for pleasure for children of primary school age.
This is the festival’s 77th year and to help you to join in, we have picked out our top 20 Literacy Time PLUS resources which tie in with the theme of Rhythm and Rhyme.
This year’s Book Week was launched in spectacular style when Children’s Laureate, Michael Rosen, joined local schoolchildren for a flight on the London Eye, and helped them to write a shared poem about the experience.
Free teachers’ packs
Earlier this year, Booktrust sent out free Children’s Book Week teachers’ packs to all state primary schools, public libraries, special schools and initial teacher training institutions. Each pack contained a comprehensive teacher’s resource guide including games and activities, tips for organising a successful Children’s Book Week, a colour poster, a bookmark and The Best New Illustrators guide to picture books. If you missed it, you can download the Teachers’ Guide and Poster from the Booktrust website.
