Get your class working as Secret Spies Lab Assistants for this top secret mission: How can we make water get bigger?

The focus of this investigation is to explore changing states through looking at water expansion. The investigation is designed to introduce the concept of molecules expanding to a Key Stage 1 class. It also provides an accessible means of gaining knowledge during a hands-on science lesson. Resources are minimal and are very simple to prepare. I find this activity works best with the class divided into small groups working on individual work stations. Now the investigation is ready to begin!

You will need per group: one plastic bottle (not a glass bottle); a piece of foil; access to a freezer and a water tap.
