Launch an exciting topic on space with a themed assembly

astronaut

You will need:

A collection of posters and images of astronauts including the Poster, ‘Astronaut’; a picture of the Earth from space; photos of the sky at night; atmospheric music such as Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss (part of the music from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey) or the theme from Star Wars.

Introduction

Tell the children that today’s assembly is all about space. Say that you will be exploring what we think and feel about space, as well as how the Earth is our launch pad for discovering what other planets and stars are like.
