July is the perfect month to take your teddies outdoors for a picnic, so make your sandwiches and head for the woods

teddy bears' picnic

1 If you go down to the woods today…

Teach the children ‘The Teddy Bears’ Picnic’ song shown on this poster. Give each child a copy of the ‘Teddy bear masks’ activity sheet and invite them to make their own teddy bear mask using a range of collage materials. Ask for parental permission for the children to taste and handle foods and check for any food allergies, then make a picnic together. With parental permission take the children, together with the picnic and their bear masks and go to the ‘woods’. This can be anywhere where there are a few trees. After the picnic, encourage the children to wear their masks as they sing along or listen to this recording of ‘The Teddy Bears’ Picnic’.
