How does it help us?

Teacher’s notes: Choose eight children to stand at the front of the class, each concealing a card in one hand. Give the rest of the class a category (for example safety) and ask a child to pick a card from the row. The card is then shown. Does it fit the category you asked for? If so, the children swap places. If the item does not fit the category then move to your next category. The next child in the class now has to choose a card, and so on. Bear in mind that some items will be relevant to several categories – encourage children to explain and justify their choices.
